The way cultures are born and the way they die are through language
Not unlike the porous but firm coral that the island of Okinawa is composed of, so have the people who stand upon this gracious yet majestic island been steadfast in retaining their own unique culture, while at the same time respecting the many others that surround them.
Ryukyu must master the language of the world (English), while at the same time learn and retain the cultural heritage entrusted to it by its ancestors. Through retaining a connection to the soul of its past, and embracing its role in current world events, the future environment of the world our children thrive should be with a tint of Ryukyu. It is to this end, that Ryukyu Kokusai Kouryu Kai, and its founder, Byron D. Jones, is dedicated.

1969年米国バージニア州生まれ。久場崎ハイスクール卒業後、米国オレゴン州立大学オレゴン州立大学院で文化人類学を専攻。19歳で三線を始め、後に琉球民謡伝統協会認定の教師免許を取得。天顔基地内保育園で保育士免許コース修了。1999から、沖縄県内の琉球大学や保育園で三線や英会話を教えている。
